A day after the city made to the list of top 20 smart cities project, officials of the district administration and municipal corporation (MC) conducted a meeting with the officials of central government and union ministry of urban development through video conferencing on Friday.
MC commissioner, GK Singh Dhaliwal told that the officials of the central government and ministry of urban development congratulated the 20 cities which were selected for smart city project.
The authorities have asked for the formation of special purpose vehicle that would take decision regarding the smart city initiatives. He further said that they have written to the state government to appoint chief executive officer (CEO) for the project.
A meeting of the advisory committee for smart city project will be called, in which MLAs, MP and officials would participate.
On Thursday, Ludhiana made the cut in top 20 list of smart city project. It was the only city from the region. The central government will invest rs 50,802 crore over the next 5 years for the announced cities and towns.
The MC commissioner GK Singh Dhaliwal said that they are expecting to get `200 crore from the central and state governments (50:50 share) by March 31.
A total of `1,000 crore is expected to be received by the MC in the next four financial years, to be contributed equally by both centre and state.
