Former Congress MLA Karam Singh Thakur dies

Mortal remains of former Congress MLA Karam Singh Thakur, who died on Monday night at his native village Uhal, were consigned to flames on Tuesday. He was 78-year-old.Hundreds of people were present on this occasion to pay their final regards to the leader.

Mortal remains of former Congress MLA Karam Singh Thakur, who died on Monday night at his native village Uhal, were consigned to flames on Tuesday. He was 78-year-old.Hundreds of people were present on this occasion to pay their final regards to the leader.

He is survived by his wife Narvada Thakur, former chairperson of Hamirpur Zila parishad, two sons, daughter
and grand children.

He represented the state assembly from Bamsan assembly segment from 1985-90. Earlier, he was the chairman of Hamirpur Block Samiti.

Leaders of various parties and other social and sports organisations have mourned the death of Karam Singh Thakur.

Chief minister Virbhadra Singh said he has lost a sincere friend and a top class politician. Senior BJP leader and former chief minister Prem Kumar. Dhumal said he (Karam Singh) would be known for his work for the people of the Bamsan area.

Sujanpur MLA Rajendra Rana has also mourned the death of Karam Singh Thakur and has described him one of the leading political personalities of the district.
