Police have arrested four persons in connection with the alleged murder of a young trader in Rama Mandi on Tuesday night.

SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the arrested accused have been identified as Vijay Kumar, Charanjit Singh alias Channi, Sukhraj Singh and Bharat Bhushan, all residents of Rama Mandi, while one of their accomplices, Samuel, is yet to be arrested.

Bhullar said accused Channi had an altercation with victim Punit Singla over a person being beaten up in Rama Mandi near his shop.

"Channi had opposed the incident of the man being beaten by Singla, following which Singla also beat him up. Channi developed an enmity with the victim and to take revenge, he attacked the victim with a baseball bat when he was on his way home in the evening," said Bhullar.

Traders in Rama Mandi had observed a bandh against the incident on Wednesday.
