Four arrested with 100-gm heroin

A team of special branch in rural police has arrested four people after recovering 100 gm heroin from their possession near a religious shrine in Mehatpur area of the district. The accused have been identified as Jarnail Singh alias Moti of Mehatpur, Balwinder Singh, Som Nath of Bath Kalan and Chander Shekhar of Saido village.

A team of special branch in rural police has arrested four people after recovering 100 gm heroin from their possession near a religious shrine in Mehatpur area of the district.

The accused have been identified as Jarnail Singh alias Moti of Mehatpur, Balwinder Singh, Som Nath of Bath Kalan and Chander Shekhar of Saido village.

Acting on a tip-off, assistant sub inspector Surinder Singh and other police personnel raided a plot near a religious shrine in Mehatpur late on Tuesday evening where Moti was delivering the contraband to Balwinder who had to further give it to Som Nath and Chander Shekhar.

The police team said Moti was already facing many criminal cases. A case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 was registered against them. Later, they were produced before a local court and sent to judicial custody.
