Four get 10 years RI in gang rape case

The court of additional district and sessions judge, Harpreet Kaur Randhawa on Wednesday awarded ten years rigorous imprisonment to four accused-Dalbir Singh, Palwinder Singh of village Mahilpur, (Nakodar) and Balwinder Kumar and Mithun Kumar of Shahkot- for raping a minor girl.


The fast track court also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on each of the accused who would have to undergo another year in prison if they fail to pay the amount.

The 17-year-old victim, resident of Mehatpur, had stated that on December 13,2012, the Palwinder along with his friend abducted her while was waiting for a bus to go to her friend's house in Shahkot. She further said that they took her to an unknown place where they along with others repeatedly raped her in turns.

A case under section 376 (G) (gang rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and 3 (10), (11), (12) sections of SC/ST Act was registered at Mehatpur police station.
