Four students from the city have cleared the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) entrance test, results for which were declared on Wednesday evening.Lovedeep Singh Dhingra, a student of MGN Public School who had secured second rank in the All India Pre-Medical Test, has got 10th rank in the AIIMS entrance test. Having grown up seeing three doctors— his parents and grandfather — in his house, Lovedeep always wanted to be one.
"It was my aim to get admission in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as my father also studied from there. For me, it is like a dream come true that I got a good rank," Lovedeep said.
"It is a collective effort. I am thankful to my teachers and parents who always supported me to get the best," he added.
Even as he has not decided on the specialisation yet, his preference is ocular surgery.
He has also been selected in the Indraprastha University examination with third all-India rank, 37th rank in Manipal University and 24th rank in CMC Ludhiana.
Lakshay Chopra of Apeejay School got 19th rank in the AIIMS test. He had secured 177th rank in AIPMT which he was not much happy about.
"It is no less than a surprise to me to get such a good rank in the AIIMS test. My father is a psychiatrist and I have preference for the same though I have not decided on it as yet," Lakshay said.
Bisman Singh of MGN Public School in Adarsh Nagar got 118th rank in the AIIMS entrance test.
She had also secured 18th rank in the AIPMT and third rank in Punjab.
Her first choice is AIIMS, Delhi. "I will not be getting AIIMS, Delhi, and I do not want to opt for any other. I will prefer Maulana Azad Medical College in that case," she said.
Bisman has also secured 22nd rank in the Manipal University test, 21st rank for CMC Ludhiana and ninth rank for Indraprastha University and has also made it to the Maulana Azad Medical College.
She has not decided about specialization as yet.
"My mother is gynecologist while my father is a pathologist. I want to be a successful doctor," said Bisman.
Kanav Khanna of Apeejay School who bagged 63rd rank in the AIIMS test wants to become a cardiologist. His mother is an ayurvedic doctor.
Son of an insurance surveyor, Kanav said, "I will discuss the family whether I would be studying at AIIMS in Bhopal, Rishikesh or Raipur since I will not be able to make it to the AIIMS, Delhi. I have the option to study at the Maulana Azad Medical College also.
