Four people, including a woman, travelling in a car were killed on Monday when their vehicle overturned and rammed into a tree on Samana-Patran Road.

The deceased were identified as Geeta Rani, Rakesh Kumar, Satish Kumar and Balwinder Kumar, all aged between 36-38 years and residents of Patran in Patiala district.
The police said the accident happened around 4 am and the four were on their way to drop Geeta Rani at Samana.

The over-speeding car overturned near Kakarala village and rammed into a tree, killing all four on the spot, said the police.

They were rushed to the Samana Civil Hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.
Ghagga police station house officer Ranvir Singh said the bodies had been handed over to their families after post-mortem.

"The case has been registered, but we are trying to find out why they had gone to drop the woman at such an early hour," said Singh.
