Four killed, two injured in car-truck collision in Bathinda

Four people were killed while two others were injured in a collision between a car and a truck on the Bathinda-Dabwali road late Friday night.

The accident took place at about 11:15pm near Gurthari when an Alto car (HR 59 7886) got involved in a collision with a truck (PB 03Y 7697). The car was coming from the Dawbali side in neighbouring Haryana, while the truck was on its way from Bathinda towards Dabwali, when both vehicles had an head-on collision.

The deceased have been identified as Gurtej Singh, 30, Pakka Kalan, Balwinder Singh, 28, Gurpiyar Singh, 22, and Harjinder Kumar, 24, all residents of Pakka Kalan village while the two injured have been identified as Sikander Singh and Birsa Singh from the same village. Their condition is also reported to be critical.

The impact of the collision was so strong that bodies and limbs of the victims were found scattered all over the place. The police have registered a case under Section 304 A for causing death due to negligence against the unidentified driver of the truck, who fled from the spot after the mishap.
