Four more deaths take heat wave toll to 16 in Amritsar

Four persons died due to intense heat wave in Amritsar, taking the toll of such deaths to 16 so far. While the identity of two of the deceased was known, the remaining have so far not been identified.

Four persons died due to intense heat wave in Amritsar, taking the toll of such deaths to 16 so far.

Of the four who were reported dead on Sunday, two were identified as Dit Masih and Bittu, whereas two were yet to be identified.

According to police, a person was found dead near the grain market. He was identified as Bittu, a rickshaw-puller. Another person identified as Dit Masih died at Sultanwind.

One of the unidentified deceased was a migrant labourer whereas the other died in a hospital.
Amritsar has been experiencing extreme heat for the past few days. The temperature continues to hover around 45 degrees Celsius.
