Four nagar panchayats of Sangrur to go for polls

The elections for the four nagar panchyats in Sangrur district would be conducted today. The polls will be conducted in 41 wards of Moonak, Khanauri, Dirba and Cheema Nagar panchyats.


As per additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Sangrur Baljit Singh Sidhu about 350 employees have been deputed for the polling process.

Voting will begun at 8 am and will end at 4 pm. The counting of votes will be carried out on June 10, from 6 pm onwards, the ADC informed.

Keeping in view the elections in these four towns, the district administration has declared it to be a dry day.

As many as 142 candidates are contesting the polls for the 50 seats. More than 35,000 voters will use their right to franchise in the polls.

In Patiala, Sannaur and Ghannour Nagar panchayats will also go for polls.
