Miscreants are on prowl in the city and executing loots and snatching frequently. Four more incidents have been reported in city during the last two days.
GANG OF WOMEN ROBS PAU PROFESSOR OF GOLD BANGLE
Women gang robbed professor of basic science department of Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) and fled after throwing her out of a running car. The victim suffered injuries in the incident. The Sarabha Nagar police have registered a case under Section 379-B (theft) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in this context against unidentified three women and their male accomplices in this context of Saturday.
Rama Kumari, 57, of H-block, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, stated that she was going to PAU on her scooter on Friday. Suddenly, three women and a man travelling in a white-coloured Maruti Swift car intercepted her at 100 meters away from her house.
One of the women, who was sitting in the front seat of the car alongside the driver impersonated them as her relative and said they are coming to visit her home.
“When I denied recognising her, the woman said that she might recognise the women sitting on back seat of the car. When I went near the car to see their faces they held my hand and pulled me inside the car,’ said Rama Kumari.
“The driver drove away the car, meanwhile the women sitting in the back cut off gold bangle from my wrist. When I resisted the accused pushed me out of the running car following which I suffered multiple injuries,”she added.
The victim added that one of the accused was of 50-year-old, while the other two were in their mid forties.
ASI Janak Raj, who is investigating the matter, said the incident was captured on CCTVs installed on the road.
LOCALS NAB MISCREANTS SNATCHING MOBILE
Residents of New Vishnupuri area of Salem Tabri nabbed two miscreants, who were fleeing after snatching mobile phone from a teen on Saturday. The accused were under influence of some drug. Area residents handed over the accused to the Salem Tabri police station.
The police initiated investigation in this context.
Harish Sharma Bobby, a resident of New Vishnupuri area, said a 15-year-old boy Mohit was talking to someone on his mobile phone in the street on Saturday evening. Meanwhile, motorcycle-borne two miscreants struck there and snatched mobile phone from his hand and fled.
The miscreants’ motorcycle rammed in to a three-wheeler following which they fell down on the road. The locals nabbed them and recovered mobile phone from their possession. Bobby said they have come to know that the miscreants were bailed out from Jail a few days ago.
EARRINGS OF WOMAN SNATCHED
Two motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched gold earrings from a woman in Guru Nagak Dev Colony in Dugri on Saturday morning and fled.
Kuldeep Kaur, 45, of Guru Nagak Dev Colony said when she was returning home from a market on Saturday, two miscreants intercepted her. One of the miscreants came near her, while another kept sitting on the bike. The miscreant snatched gold ear rings and fled. In the incident she suffered injuries too. The victim filed a complaint at Dugri police station in this context.
MISCREANTS SNATCHED CAR AT GUNPOINT
Four miscreants snatched Maruti Swift car from the driver on a gunpoint in Jagjit Nagar near Ishmeet Chowk on Friday evening. The miscreants thrashed the driver of the car when he resisted.
The Sarabha Nagar police have registered a case under Section 382 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 25/54/59 of Arms Act against unidentified accused.
The case has been registered following the statement of Dalbir Singh of Mehtabpur of Jalandhar. Dalbir Singh told police that he had come to Jagjit Nagar of Ishmeet Chowk to get his medical examination done.
He along with his wife went to the doctor, while his driver kept sitting in the car.
After some time four miscreants struck there and asked him to come out of the car. When he resisted the miscreants brandished gun in his head and pulled him out of the car. The miscreants thrashed him and fled with the car.
