In an anti-encroachment drive carried out by the municipal corporation authorities on Dugri road and parts of Model Town area, around challans were issued to shopkeepers and vendors for encroaching upon public land. The civic body officials also removed billboards, hoardings and seized around 15 rehris.
Teams of Zones C and D of the municipal corporation led by superintendent Naveen Malhotra went to the Dugri road and started removing the flex boards outside shops. The team also removed around 15 rehris. The team later went to Model Town area and also removed encroachments there.
A total of 80 challans were also issued to the shopowners and vendors for encroachments.
"We seized advertisement boards, rehris, cooking gas cylinders and 'tandoors' in Dugri and Model Town areas. We seized four truckloads of items during the drive," said Malhotra.
Policemen also accompanied the MC team to avoid any untoward incident.
