Residents who came to attend the sangat darshan of the municipal commissioner were left disappointed as most of them were given a later date for redressal of their grievances.
Even councillors of the BJP and the Congress complained that their issues were not being addressed properly by municipal commissioner Pradeep Agarwal, who held the fourth sangat darshan on Tuesday.
In a fit of rage, Congress councillor Rakesh Prasher, who complained to the commissioner regarding the repair of lanes in his ward, tore away the complaint when the commissioner asked him to come on another date.
Prasher said the sangat darshan had become a joke on part of the authorities as they fail to address the general issues concerning the public. “There are lanes that have not been repaired in my ward and many senior citizens fall due to this causing injury. The commissioner asked me to bring the issue later,” added Prasher.
On the other hand, BJP councillor Inder Aggarwal also went disappointed from the public meeting. He said the projects in his ward were lying pending due to delay in payment to the contractor.
“Sangat darshan has remained an exercise that is waste. The commissioner should take immediate action on the issues to make these public meetings meaningful,” added Inder.
Meanwhile, several issues were discussed during the sangat darshan.
A complainant brought out an application regarding declaring his property safe which was declared unsafe by the municipal corporation. However, Pradeep Agarwal told him that unsafe building was a risk to the lives of the residents and would be demolished by the civic body without any biased approach.
119 plaints received
A total of 119 complaints have been received in the four public meetings. Most of these complaints were concerned with the building and water sewerage branch.
