Free counselling camp for mothers of underprivileged children held

As part of its mission to serve the community, Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik Club held a free counselling camp for the mothers of underprivileged children studying at Jeevan Mukt Nishulk School, Jagatpura village, here on Sunday.

More than 60 mothers attended the camp which was held on the school premises. The mothers were educated on why it was important for their children to attend school regularly, the importance of maintaining hygiene, including hand washing and brushing of teeth etc. More than 20 members of the club led by its president ML Gupta and secretary Manjit Kaur participated in the event.

Earlier, over 150 members of Rotaract and Interact Clubs associated with Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik took out a 'Save the environment' rally in Sector 48 and Jagatpura. The members of these clubs, who are students of Shemrock Secondary School, SAS Nagar, spread the message of 'Don't use polythene', 'Keep your surroundings clean', 'Grow more trees' etc.

In a related move to serve the community, Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik Club also held 'Annapoorna Day' at Nayagaon at the Jeevan Mukt Nishulk School on Sunday. Over 150 students and staff of the school were served lunch by the rotarians.
