A freedom fighter, Ram Singh (100), died after prolonged illness on Sunday. He was cremated with full state honours at Sangrur.
Ram Singh joined the Indian freedom struggle in 1936 and later joined the Indian National Army (INA), started by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in 1942. He also spent some days in jails in Germany. Post-retirement, Ram Singh remained government driver of the Sangrur deputy commissioner.
Several senior officials from the district administration attended the cremation.
