Former dera manager Krishan Lal, accused in both Ranjit Singh and journalist Ram Chander Chattrapati murder cases, has got bail from the court of chief judicial magistrate, Sirsa, on furnishing bail bonds after 9 years.

The Punjab and Haryana high court had granted him bail on October 12, 2004. But he did not furnish bail bonds at that time as he was facing Ranjit Singh murder case too.
Recently, he got bail in Ranjit Singh case, so he requested the CBI court to accept bail bonds for Chattrapati case too for which bail was allowed by the high court in 2004.

The CBI opposed the request, but the CBI special court asked him to go to Sirsa court for furnishing bail bonds.

Chattrapati was shot at on October 24, 2002, for allegedly writing about the illegal activities going inside the Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa. Along with Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim and Krishan Lal, Nirmal Singh, and Kuldeep Singh are also accused in the case. Both Nirmal Singh and Kuldeep Singh used to work as carpenters at the dera while Krishan Lal was a manager.

Ram Rahim is already out on bail.

Ranjit Singh was murdered on July 10, 2002, by dera followers in his fields in Kurukshetra. It was alleged that dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim suspected him to be behind an anonymous letter of a sadhvi (female follower) leveling allegations of sexual exploitation against the dera chief. Sabdil, Jasbir and Krishan Lal, Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Indersen and Avtaar are accused in the case.
