The city police have arrested gangster Shubham Singh and his two aides wanted for the murder of a tavern owner and his employee. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP, crime) Lakhbir Singh said the accused were nabbed following a tip-off on Saturday.
Shubham, son of an undertrial suspended cop, and his aides — Gaurav Singh and Kapil Jaitley — were seen roaming on a bike on 88 Feet road, following which they were apprehended at a checkpoint set up at Mustafabad Indira Colony chowk, said the ADCP.
A country-made pistol, a 12-bore gun and five cartridges each besides 520-gm drug powder were seized from them. On raiding their hideout, a stolen Innova car and a motorcycle were also recovered.
Hardev Singh, owner of a tavern on 88 Feet road, was shot dead by the accused and his aides on July 25. Other aides — Amit Kumar, Ravi Kumar and Simran Singh – are still absconding.
Shubham had gone to Hardev Singh’s tavern to settle an old score with his son Simran. On reaching the establishment, Shubham opened fire at Hardev and his worker Raju. Hardev died on the spot, but Raju succumbed to his injuries on August 6.
At least 10 criminal cases have already been registered against the accused, said the ADCP.
