Even as the gangster linked to the Student Organisation of India (SOI), the student wing of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), is still on the run in a murder case, there has been another controversy involving him. Photographs of Gaurav Sharma alias Goru Bachcha with senior SAD leader and District Planning Board chairman Hira Singh Gabria have surfaced. The pictures went viral on social media in which Bachcha is seen standing with the SAD leader at a function.

Bachcha is absconding after killing auto-rickshaw driver Vikram Kumar over an issue of parking of vehicles last week. A case of murder has been registered against him and his accomplices at the Dugri police station.

Photographs of Bachcha had also surfaced on the hoardings of the SOI last week. Following this, the office-bearers of the SOI had distanced themselves from him. Meetpal Singh Dugri, SOI zonal president, said he did not know Bachcha and had no idea how his pictures appeared on the hoardings.

Don’t know him: Gabria

Gabria, who is also member of the SAD parliamentary affairs committee, said he did not know Bachcha, adding that he attended many functions in the city during which many people met him and got their pictures clicked with him. “You can’t judge from somebody’s face whether he is a criminal. It is quite possible that he may have got clicked his pictures with me at a function, but I don’t know him and have no ties with him,” Gabria said.

Family cremates body

The family of auto-rickshaw driver Vikrant Kumar cremated the body on Friday eight days after his death following assurance of financial help from the government and a job for a family member by SAD MLA Darshan Singh Shivalik.
