A garbage dumping site in Aleo village, situated across the Beas river on the Manali- Kullu road, has become a cause of nuisance to villagers, hoteliers and tourists.

“This garbage dumping site is a permanent source of nuisance for our staff and guests,” said Anju Rais, proprietor of Hotel Angel's Inn, located adjacent to the garbage dumping site.

She urged the local administration to immediately shift the dumping site to some other location so that the ecology of the surroundings did not deteriorate further. “Due to the stinking smell emanating from garbage, guests no longer prefer putting up at our hotel. This has seriously dented our business,” said Rais.

Nidhi Ahuja, a tourist from Delhi, said this dumping site could cause the outbreak of some contagious diseases. “Tourists suffer when instead of beautifying the roadsides, these were being used to dump garbage,” she added.

Six hotels and a mini hydropower project on the nearby Allain river are located near the garbage dumping site. Despite repeated attempts, sub-divisional magistrate Viney Dhiman could not be contacted for comment on the matter.
