Unidentified burglars struck at a showroom on Sat Pal Mittal Road and decamped with garments worth Rs 1 crore on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

Creative Lines owner Meenu Aggarwal’s son Rajat Aggarwal said he came to know about the incident on Friday morning when the shop manager informed him about the broken shutter. “The burglars took away more than 3,500 pieces of woollens. Two baskets were found in the store which are thought to have been used by the burglars to load the garments in the vehicles,” said Rajat.

On being informed, Sarabha Nagar police reached the spot. Experts from the forensic department are trying to find some clues.

According to Rajat, the employees of the showroom had mistakenly switched off the CCTVs so the incident could not be recorded. The police have registered a case against unidentified burglars. Sarabha Nagar SHO sub-inspector Kulwant Singh said the case would be cracked soon.

Meenu claimed she incurred a loss of `1 crore. “The store is situated on the main road but none from the police patrolling parties noticed the incident,” she added.
