Gear up for a wet weekend as rain brings down temperature in Punjab, Haryana

The weatherman forecast moderate to heavy rain across the region over the next seven days.

Pre-monsoon showers lashed Punjab and Haryana on Thursday, bringing down the temperature by several degrees.

The weatherman forecast moderate to heavy rain across the region over the next seven days.

“Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh will receive rain for the next five to seven days. The intensity will vary from moderate to heavy,” says Surender Paul, the director of the Indian Meteorological Department, Chandigarh.

Chandigarh got 10.3 mm of rainfall that led to a dip in temperature by 9 degrees.

The weatherman has forecast monsoon in two days.

The city has been receiving rain since Tuesday night. It rained 10.3 mm till Thursday morning.

“It was a light rain. The intensity is likely to increase from Thursday night,” the Met department said.

The temperature will continue to dip. The maximum will remain below 30 degrees Celsius.

Haryana recorded more rain than Punjab. Hisar got the maximum rainfall of 148.4 mm in Haryana. It was followed by Karnal, which recorded 140.4 mm of rain and Narnaul with 68 mm of rainfall.

In Punjab, Amritsar received 36.6 mm of rainfall.

The Met department has predicted heavy rain at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana.
