The health department officials on Saturday sealed an ultrasound machine at Ganaur in Sonepat district on Saturday for allegedly carrying out sex-determination tests.
An official spokesman said Sonepat CMO JS Punia got a tip-off about illegal sex determination tests being carried out at the Bhatia Nursing Home in Ganaur. A team, led by CMO Punia, PNDT officer Adarsh Sharma and DSP Gannaur Satish Kumar, sent a decoy customer to the centre On Saturday.
The doctor demanded Rs 10,000 for conducting the test and said that report would be given on Sunday. After the customer came out, the team conducted the raid and recovered currency notes of Rs 10,000 bearing their signatures from the doctor.
While checking the record, it was found that various irregularities were committed while filling up the forms of women visiting the nursing home. The ultrasound machine at the centre was sealed.
He said that a case has been registered against the accused doctor for violating the Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Regulation and Prevention of Misuse) Act.
