Giddha performances marks end of PTU youth fest

The concluding day of PTU Zonal Youth Festival at Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GNIMT), Gujarkhan Campus, Ludhiana, started with a colourful giddha performance.

MS Kang, former vice-chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University was the chief guest for the day. He appreciated PTU and GNIMT for organising the youth festival successfully.

In his inaugural address, Kang said participation by the students in such youth festivals was very important, and students must participate in extra-curricular activities as it provided a proper platform to showcase their talent.

Neeru Katyal Gupta (PCS), additional commissioner, Ludhiana municipal corporation, was the guest of honour for the concluding day. Addressing the audience, she said she was deeply impressed by the talent exhibited by the young students.

Students must focus on their career, hard work, honesty, creativity and dedication and also on time management so that they successfully manage their field and bring laurels to their college, she added.

PTU observer for fest Narinder Sandhu thanked the management of GNIMT for making excellent arrangements and providing peaceful atmosphere for the students to showcase their talents.

SM Kant, adviser, youth and cultural affairs at Punjab Technical University, congratulated the management of GNIMT and its director for providing assistance to PTU to host this mega event on their campus.

He thanked the participating colleges of Ludhiana, Moga, Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur districts, and He congratulated and expressed his good wishes to all first and second winning teams, as they will be participating in the inter-zonal youth festival at Jalandhar.

GS Sarna, general secretary of Guru Nanak Education Trust (Gujarkhan) proposed vote of thanks and congratulated the participants.

Giddha: 1. GNIMT, Ludhiana; 2. RIET, Phagwara;

RIET Phagwara won the overall trophy for the Zonal Youth Festival-2014 and GNIMT, Ludhiana was the runner-up.
