A day after the police arrested her brother for allegedly killing a six-year-old boy Sahaj Singh, who was also her student, 21-year-old Kuldeep Kaur ended her life by hanging herself with the ceiling fan in her house at Naga Kheri village of Dirba sub-division of the district on Saturday.
According to family members, Kuldeep Kaur was a teacher at DS Khalsa School in nearby Kamper village, where Sahaj was a student.
Dirbha police station in-charge inspector Jaswant Singh told the Hindustan Times that, according to family members, Kuldeep took the extreme step out of shame as her brother Amandeep Singh has been arrested for strangling her student to death.
Kuldeep's father Maggar Singh told the police that after the arrest of Amandeep, she was very upset and, on Saturday morning, they found her body hanging with the fan. The police have handed over the body to the family after postmortem and registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC.
According to Sangrur police, Amandeep was an employee at a shop of Fateh Singh, and he had illicit relationship with the latter's wife Jaspreet Kaur. Sahaj's father Nirvair Singh was also an employee at that shop.
A few days before the incident, Fateh Singh had sacked Amandeep. Amandeep and Jaspreet Kaur suspected that Nirvair Singh had told her husband about their illicit relationship. To take revenge from Nirvair Singh, they kidnapped his son on Thursday and strangulated him to death. The police had arrested them on Friday.
