Sounding like a perfect recipe for any Bollywood movie, the local police on Thursday arrested four persons, including the girl's mother, who allegedly kidnapped a newly- wed couple from their house at Bhulle Chak village near Gurdaspur on Wednesday.
The couple had married against the wishes of girl's parents who had claimed their daughter to be a minor.
Gurdaspur SSP Gurpreet Singh Toor said girl's mother along with three others, including Deva Nand, Mangat Ram, Sunil Kumar, all residents of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, respectively.
Interestingly, the Gurdaspur police handed over the alleged kidnapped man, Narinder Kumar, to Pathankot police station division No.2, where a case against him for misleading Sumita, the ‘minor girl’, for marriage under section 363 and 366 were already registered.
According to the statement of the Tibber police, Narinder Kumar's mother Swarn Kaur had registered a case under sections 365,452,506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly kidnapping Narinder Kumar and his wife Sumita using a Dezire car No. HP 54-B-1474.
The SSP said the district police immediately sent message on wireless to all the police stations around and finally managed to round up four persons, including girl's mother.
Narinder Kuamr had already moved a petition seeking police protection, fearing a threat to his life.
Meanwhile, the police is likely to sent the girl to Nari Niketan from where she would be taken for medical examination to check her age.
