Girls outdo boys in HP board class X exam

It is once again that the class 10 girls outperformed boys in the high school examination of Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE), results of which were declared here on Monday.

Announcing the results of class 10 board, secretary Balbir Thakur told that as many as 14,21,28 students had appeared for examinations, out of which 80,650 were declared successful, while 26,205 got the compartment.

The overall pass percentage this year dipped to 57.19 compared to 61.16 in 2013. Among the 34 students who made it to the top ten, 20 are girls and 14 are boys. The private schools bagged almost all top positions with only three toppers being from the government school.

Diksha Sharma of Bharti Vidyapeeth Public School Baijnath in Kangra district topped the exam by scoring 97.43% marks.

The second position was bagged jointly by Jatin Kanwar of Sarswati Vidya Mandir Sunni, Shimla and Preeti Chandel of Arayan Public School Bilaspur, both of whom scored 97.28% marks each. Nitika of Himalayan International School Fatehpur, Kangra and Prerna Kargil of Summer Hill Public School Lodhwan, Kangra stood joint third by scoring 97% marks, while Vaishali Sharma of Bhartiya Public School Jogindernagar, Mandi bagged the fourth position with 96.85%.

Kriti Mahajan of Kids Camp Public School Chowari, Chamba and Akriti of Little Angel Public School Mehre, Hamipur, scored 96.71% to bag the fifth position while Sanya Dhingra of Vardhman Mahavir Public School Sundernagar, Mandi; Jahnvi of Bharti Vidyapeeth Baijnath, Kangra; Sonali of Sarswati Vidya Mandir Sunni, ShImla and Shagun Sharma of Minerva Public School Ghumarwin, Bilaspur who scored 96.57% each, were jointly placed at sixth position.

Four students who scored 96.42% marks were jointly placed seventh. They are Priyanka Kumari of Government School Dhabri, Hamirpur, Kashish Sharma of Minerva School Ghumarwin, Sakshi Puri of Swami Vivkeananda Public School Gagret, Una and Abhinav Bhardwaj of Sishu Model School Talai, Bilaspur.

Pratham Singh of SVN Public School Nahan, Smriti Minhas of Swami Vivekananda Public School Mandi, Aakash Thakur of Himalayan Public School Chowari, Chamba, Poonam of Government School Tihra, Mandi, Nanitdita Thakur of Bharat Bharti Public School, Kullu and Abhinav Sharma of Sai Public School Ukhli, Hamirpur scored 96.28% to bag the eighth position.

Seven students scored 96.14% marks to bag the ninth position. They are Ananya of Nav Bharat School Buhri, Hamirpur, Sarthak Sharma of Geetanjali Public School Dhaneta Hamirpur, Abhinav Sharma of MVM Public School Daulatpur Chowk, Una Aditya Mohan of Minerva School Ghumarwin, Shangun Sood of AVM Public School Pahra, Kangra, Parkhi Rana of Thakur Kanshi Ram Memorial School Mastpur, Kangra and Nikita Chaudhary of St. D R Public School Gagret, Una.

Diksha Sharma of Swami Vivekanand School Gagret Una, Rahul Chandel of Minerva Public School Ghumarwin, Vivek Rai of Modern Public School Swarghat, Bilaspur, Srishti Sharma of Vivekananda Public School Dehar, Mandi and Shubham of Govt School Nalsuha, Kangra jointly bagged 10th position by scoring 96% marks.
