GJUST gets Rs 2.25cr grant for swimming pool from University Grants Commission

The Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST) has been sanctioned a swimming pool by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the Sports Infrastructure Grant.

The UGC has already released Rs 2.25 crore for this project which would cost a total of Rs 3.66 crore.

Stating that this has been the biggest grant ever received by the directorate of sports of the GJUST, university vice-chancellor RS Sharma disclosed that it will be an Olympic-level pool with full modern facilities for players and spectators. "I personally congratulate the directorate of sports for this achievement," he said.

Prof MS Turan, registrar, GJUST, said that after the construction of this pool, the university would be able to hold international tournaments.

He said the university is committed to promoting sports activities on the campus. He said that GJUST gives attractive prizes to those players who bring laurels to the university.

Sports director Vinod Kumar Bishnoi said that students of GJUST have immense enthusiasm towards sports, despite it being a technical university.

He said that after establishing this pool, the region would be able to produce international-level swimmers.
