In a bizarre incident, two motorcycle-borne miscreants allegedly snatched the gold chain and locket of a cop’s mother after threatening her with a dagger on Monday evening.

The incident took place at Thapar Mohalla in Salem Tabri area when Surinder Kaur, subinspector Balkar Singh’s mother, was walking in the area.

The snatchers allegedly got hold of Surinder’s chain and try to flee but the locket fell off. Kaur reportedly tried to pick up the locket but one of the miscreants got off the bike and threatened her with a dagger.

Surinder Kaur immediately informed her son, Balkar Singh, who is stationed at Kotwali police station. He then reported the matter to Salem Tabri police, who are now investigating the matter.

“After the incident, my mother raised an alarm and ran towards her house where I was also present. When she told me about the incident, I went outside but the accused had already fled from the spot. Later, I informed the police station concerned regarding the incident,” said Balkar Singh. He added that the accused also hurled abuses at his mother.

The Salem Tabri police have recovered the CCTV footage of nearby buildings and are investigating the matter. A case in this regard has been registered.
