Gold worth lakhs, cash stolen from SAD leader's house

A native of Nepal, employed as domestic help at the house of district (rural) president of the women wing of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) decamped with gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees, cash and a revolver from the house in Bhagta near Bathinda on Monday night.

The accused, identified as Lal Bahadur, 22, was employed by the family of the SAD leader Parneet Kaur Deol about one- and-a-half months ago. As per the complaint lodged with the police by the family, the family members had gone to meet somebody on Monday evening and came back home late.

As they entered the house, they found all things scattered here and there as the house was searched thoroughly by the accused. The family has alleged that gold ornaments weighing about 660 gm and cash worth Rs 50,000 have been stolen from the house. The accused also took with him a licensed revolver of the family.

Station house officer, Dialpura, Prit Pal Singh said that the police were trying to trace the accused.
