Ludhiana municipal corporation has gone hi-tech. An android based smartphone application Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Citizens Reporting and Mapping Tool (LMC CRAMAT) launched by the civic body on March 4 for online registration of complaints along with pictures is getting a good response from the citizens of Ludhiana.
More than 500 users have downloaded the application on their smartphones in a week and 83 complaints have been lodged through this application till Monday.
Additional commissioner of LMC Isha Kalia said, "The authorities are satisfied with the response of public and out of the 83 complaints received, 20 complaints were disposed off and others have been assigned to the concerned officials."
A majority of complaints registered with the civic body are regarding, non-functional street lights and sewerage problems. The civic body tries to solve the complaints within 48 hours, Kalia added.
LMC would also use social networking sites such as Facebook to popularise the application, said Kalia.
On this mobile application, 16 users have rated the application. Six users rated it with 5 stars, five users rated with 4 stars and five users rated it with 3 stars.
Some users have also commented on the page of this application. Jagjeet said, 'This is a good step taken for the improvement in city but unless the authorities react to the complaints the app will be of no use. The major focus should be on cleanliness in the city.'
Gurpreet, rated the application with 4 stars and commented, 'Great idea and good start for a neat and clean Ludhiana. Fifth star will be added after the implementation of this project.'
Many users wished LMC best of luck for this initiative.
Ludhiana is the second city after Mumbai in the country and first in the state to launch the application. 172 kb mobile application can be downloaded on the Global Positioning System (GPS) enabled android smart phone and the residents of Ludhiana can register their complaints regarding the non-functional of streetlights, encroachments, illegal hoardings, city bus service, roads, horticulture, water and sewerage problems.
How to register the complaint
· Search LMC CRAMAT on play store of GPS enabled android smartphone.
· Install 172 KB application on mobile phone.
· Register your email id and password.
· After registration, a confirmation message will be received on the email id.
· Login by adding your email id and password.
· To register new complaint click on 'ADD' and click or upload the photo and write description of your complaint.
· The status of complaint can be checked by click on the pending options.
