The 'kardars' in the Kullu district, who gathered here at the 'Dev Sadan' to participate in an awareness camp organised by the district cultural council in collaboration with the Kullu deity culture charitable trust, said that the state and central government should increase funds to strengthen the deity culture in state.
Om Parkash Sharma, the chairperson of the charitable trust, said, "The deity culture plays an important role in our life, which has been surviving for generation. Despite the advent of modernisation, people still have deep faith in the culture, which is our legacy."
He said the state and central government should increase funds to strengthen the culture in the state, while appreciating the move of the state government to declare revolving fund of `5 crore to strengthen deity culture. He added, "We seek more aid from the governments to protect our culture."
Kullu deputy commissioner Rakesh Kanwar, who chaired the meeting, said the main motive behind organising the event was to sensitise people about the schemes initiated by the central or state government for protecting the culture.
