Govt College for Girls students plant over 50 saplings during 'Van Mahotsav'

Government College for Girls organised ‘Van Mahotsav’ festival and Installation Ceremony of Environment Club on Wednesday.

District forest officer (DFO) DS Brar was the chief guest at the event.

Tree plantation ceremony was inaugurated by the chief guest and more than fifty saplings were planted by members of the environment club.

A lecture was delivered by the chief guest.

He talked about deforestation, climate change, less monsoon and reasons behind this. “Development was the main reason behind deforestation. Trees play an important role in one’s life and it is a precious jewel that we have to keep safe for the coming future generation,” he added.

He advised the youth to keep the earth clean and green.

College principal Gurminder Kaur advised the students to plant more and more trees to make our country a better living place. Amarjit Kaur presented a poem on the importance of trees and a skit was also presented by the students of the environment club.

A vote of thanks and token of love was presented by the principal to the chief guest and students of the club.
