Several government employees staged a protest at the Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College (KCGMC) here on Thursday.

The patients at the medical college were disturbed by the protest. Medical colleges and hospitals fall under a silence zone and no loud activity is permitted as noises affect patients.
Employees under the banner of district unit “Haryana Karamchari Coordination Committee” reached the hospital and staged a massive demonstration.

Regularisation of casual appointees under reproductive and child health (RCH) and eradication of pay anomalies of the health department were among the demands of the association.

Office of the chief medical officer (CMO), part of the state health department, is also located in the medical college.

Employees of the health department are not taking part in the ongoing statewide strike.
Director, KCGMC, Dr S Kashyap said that it was unfortunate that a protest was held on the campus.

“It is indeed wrongful activity and I had immediately informed the superintendent of police about the issue. It was after much persistence by the police that the protesters, who were in a large number, left the venue,” he said.
