Reacting to the allegations suggesting a link between the Hooda family and arrested Hisar dera head Rampal, Rohtak parliamentarian Deepender Singh Hooda has dubbed it a propaganda of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to hide its mishandling of the Barwala situation.

Deepender, who was at Bhainsuru Kalan in the district on Tuesday, said this after inaugurating a discourse hall at the village.

The son of former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that the previous Congress government had arrested Rampal and kept him in jail for more than 22 months.

“The saffron government dragged the Rampal operation for more than three weeks, which led to six deaths. In that light, the BJP allegations against us are bizarre,” he said, adding that police investigation had revealed the names of all people who worked for Rampal. “The Hoodas plan to take a legal recourse against the BJP leaders who tried to defame us,” the local MP added.

Responding to a query, Deepender said he was all for investigation into the Vadra-DLF land deals. “The BJP government is in power at the Centre for six months now. It has every freedom to investigate, if it wants to,” he said.
