Union minister for commerce and industries Anand Sharma on Saturday said the government proposed to set up industrial townships across the country to generate more employments.
Speaking to mediapersons after inaugurating an international conference on 'Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility' at Cordia Group of Institutes, Sanghol, in Fatehgarh Sahib district, Sharma said the venture would generate employments for over a billion youths.
He said in last couple of decades India had witnessed exponential progress through public-private partnership (PPP).
Hailing the achievements of the young generation, Sharma said owing to quality education our youths feel privileged and more empowered today than yesteryears.
Highlighting the progressive outlook of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, the minister said schemes like the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and Direct Benefits Transfer (DBT) had earned plaudits from the people.
In the meantime, Sharma urged the corporate sector not to lose sight of its social responsibility while admitting that most of the business houses were discharging it well enough.
