A grand nagar kirtan procession was taken out with religious fervour from historic Gurdwara Guptsar Patshahi Dasmi, Chhateana near Gidderbaha, on Sunday, as part of Guru Nanak Dev jayanti celebrations.
Passing through several villages of Gidderbaha and Muktsar, the procession culminated at Gurdwara Tutti Gandhi Sahib, Muktsar. The procession was led by 'Panj Pyaras'.
High priests of Takht Damdama Sahib Balwant Singh Nandgarh and Takht Kesgarh Sahib Giani Mal Singh also participated in the procession.
The 'Nagar Kirtan' was organised by Nirol Sewa Organisation (NSO), a non-profit registered organisation dedicated to promoting Sikh religion, culture and history, besides creating awareness on social evils like drug addiction and female feticide.
An aeroplane showered flowers on the procession near Dhulkot village. Thousands of devotees queued up along the route to catch a glimpse of the procession. 'Langar' was organized by the people at several places along the route of the procession.
Speaking on the occasion, Nandgarh said, "All the Sikh organisations should work to end the drug menace from Punjab. A healthy soul is required for a healthy mind. People should be made aware of social evils by holding such 'Nagar Kirtan' processions."
