Granthi among three held for thefts

The police on Tuesday busted a gang of robbers by arresting three people, including the granthi of a gurdwara. The police also seized six LEDs and five LCDs worth Rs 6.5 lakh from their possession. Deputy superintendent of police Bimal Sharma said the accused had confessed to have stolen the LCDs from Malerkotla SDM's office and LEDs from a local shop.

The police on Tuesday busted a gang of robbers by arresting three people, including the granthi of a gurdwara. The police also seized six LEDs and five LCDs worth Rs 6.5 lakh from their possession.

Deputy superintendent of police Bimal Sharma said the accused had confessed to have stolen the LCDs from Malerkotla SDM's office and LEDs from a local shop.

The accused have been identified as Mohammad Nadeem, Mohammad Zaleem and Baldev Singh. The police said after committing thefts, the accused used to store stolen goods at Baldev Singh's house on gurdwara premises in Dhalomajra village in Ludhiana district before disposing them of. The gang was active in Malerkotla for the past eight months.
