Around 695 grenade detonators, which were found lying in a vacant plot near Greater Kailash Colony, old cantonment area, last Sunday, belonged to the army, superintendent of police (detective) Jagjit Singh Saroya said here on Sunday.
Saroya said army personnel had confirmed on Friday that the ammunitions were their property and they did not know who had kept them in the empty plot.
According to information, last Sunday a labourer found 39 red boxes in a plot when he was the area plot near Greater Kailash Colony. Doubting explosives in the boxes, he immediately informed the colony residents after which residents had informed the police who then recovered 695 grenade detonators in the boxes.
Naresh Vig, defence spokesperson, said he had not received any information regarding this and police are investing the case.
