Santokh Singh, a retired armyman who worked as a priest at a local gurdwara, was murdered in the wee hours of Sunday at Thakkar village.
The accused, Dharminder Singh, a resident of Manga village, has been arrested. Paramjit Kaur, the deceased’s wife, told the police that when she went to the gurdwara around 4.30 am to pay obeisance she saw her husband and the accused having a heated argument.

Suddenly, Dharminder pulled out her husband’s kirpan and stabbed him in chest, abdomen and head, killing him on the spot, Paramjit further alleged.
The complainant further revealed that Dharminder had a dispute with his estranged wife and he was under impression that Santokh was coming in the way of a compromise. A case has been registered against the accused at the Dasuya police station.
