Governor Urmila Singh presented 24 medals to officers of the state government for their distinguished and meritorious services and a Jeevan Raksha medal on the occasion of the investiture ceremony held at Raj Bhawan here on Wednesday.
Chief minister Virbhadra Singh was also present on the occasion.
The governor conferred the distinguished service award on IPS Sita Ram Mardi, currently serving as ADGP, CID.
She conferred the meritorious service award on IPS officers Daljit Thakur, Puneeta Bhardwaj and RS Negi, HHC Ramesh Kumar, Daulat Ram, inspector, 1st Battalion, Junga, HPS Kapil Sharma, SP Anand Kumar Dhiman, inspector Mukesh Bakshi and HC Babu Ram.
She presented fire service medal for distinguished service upon chief fire officer Sher Singh Thapa and fire service medal for meritorious service on sub-fire officer Devender Dutt Sharma, station fire officer BS Mahal, leading fireman Paras Ram (retd), fireman Jagdish Chand, sub-fire officer Madan Lal, sub-fire officer Ramesh Chand, leading fireman Rajinder Kumar and fireman Kubaj Singh.
She conferred Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal for distinguished service on Commandant Bhupal Singh Chauhan and Home Guards And Civil Defence Medal for meritorious service on Honorary Company Commander Rach Pal Nepta, Honorary Company Commander Ram Rattan Sharma and Company Commander Laja Devi (retd).
The governor also presented Correctional Service Medal for meritorious service on Deepak Shandil, head warder, Model Central Jail, Kanda.
She conferred Jeevanraksha Padak Award, 2010, on Pardeep Kumar of Sarain village, Chopal district, Shimla. Additional chief secretary, home, P Mitra, who is also holding the charge of chief secretary, conducted the proceedings on the occasion.
