The civic body has passed a resolution, moved by the president of the body Deep Kumar, for regularisation of works and giving payment to the contractors who had done the works without floating the tenders and getting earlier approval of the house.
Three-member committee led by vice-president of the parishad Dharmendra Sharma and Anil Soni and Ved Prakash opposed the resolution and demanded an inquiry into the scandal.
It is worth mentioning here that seven members of the parishad about six months ago had leveled allegations of misappropriation of parishad funds and getting works done without getting the tenders floated and obtaining permission of the house.
Accordingly, a probe was initiated by the district administration and the SDM had admitted that the works were done without the approval of the house and no tenders were floated violating the rules.
However, the resolution had surprised all as four of BJP members (lady members) who had earlier demanded inquiry into the misappropriation of funds sided with the president for reasons known to them.
Vice-president of the parishad said that the way in which the resolution was adopted was highly uncalled for, undemocratic and against the rules and norms of the civic body.
Sharma said that he would once again go the vigilance department and demand a high-level inquiry into the resolution and the earlier complaint submitted by him to them.
However, the president of body, Deep Kumar justified the resolution and said that there was nothing wrong in it.
