Hamirpur member of Parliament (MP) and chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology Anurag Thakur on Wednesday said the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency was the only one in the country to have separate toilets for girl students in all government schools.

At a panel discussion organised by non-governmental organisation Save the Children in New Delhi on Wednesday, Thakur said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of making India a clean and hygienic country had become a reality in Hamirpur.

Commending the people of Hamirpur for not discriminating between boys and girls, Thakur said the constituency had managed to achieve a positive sex ratio of 1,017 females per 1,000 males.

Thakur further said he would collaborate with other MPs to address issues related to the welfare of children and women. Union minister for minority welfare Najma Heptullah was also present on the occasion.
