Piqued over humiliation meted out by his paramour and her brothers, a man allegedly hanged himself at his office in Santokh Nagar area of Salem Tabri on Monday morning.
The victim has been identified as Bhola Sood, 28. He ran an orchestra group from the office that he had made on the ground floor of his house.
His wife, Neetu Rani, alleged that Sood had extra-marital relations with a woman named Poona of Tajpur Road.
Rani alleged that Poona and her brothers used to pressure and harass her husband to marry Poona, due to which he remained stressed. She further alleged that Poona had forced her husband to transfer the ownership of a pick-up auto to her name, and to harass him, the woman and her brothers took away his orchestra equipment and the pick-up auto.
Rani further told the police that on Monday morning, Sood bought breakfast for the family from the market. After eating, Sood sent her upstairs and locked himself inside his office.
“When he did not come out despite repeated knocking, I peeped through the window and was shocked to see my husband hanging,” Rani added.
She sounded the police who reached the spot and initiated investigation.
Inspector Maninder Bedi, station house officer (SHO) at Salem Tabri police station, said they had booked Poona and her two brothers for abetment to suicide and efforts were on to arrest them.Sood is survived by his wife and three children, all aged below 8.
