During a visit here to inaugurate a seminar organised by the Punjab Heritage and Tourism Promotion Board, Harsimrat - who had trounced royal scion Raninder Singh in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections with the margin of more than one lakh votes - missed no chance to take digs at former CM Amarinder Singh or minister of state for external affairs Preneet Kaur.

"Patiala had also seen tenure of a local resident as chief minister, but nothing noteworthy in terms of development happened here. Patiala is not developed as it should have been. Bathinda region has also witnessing the rule by the Badal family. Ask them or visit Bathinda to see the development and to know how an MP works,"said Harsimrat when asked that Patiala was being ignored by the Akali regime.

She further said Preneet was a minister in the central government and could she bring any project to Patiala herself. Not only Bathinda, but the entire Punjab had progressed under the Akali-BJP rule, and thus people reposed faith in our policies, she added.

On question of preservation of heritage of Patiala, she said the state had limited resources, still it was spending enough and had taken concrete steps in the direction. The state was spending `8 crores on the renovation of Quila Mubarak, Nabha, she added.

She lambasted Preneet and Amarinder for not paying any attention to the preservation of the city's culture heritage.

Stating that the state is not able to spend much on the maintenance of the heritage buildings owing to limited resources, Harsimrat said: "The Congress MP should ask for a special package from the Centre for the preservation of the heritage buildings and promotion of its rich culture and art heritage by rising above party lines."

Flanked by Punjab minister for rural development Surjit Singh Rakhra, earlier Harsimrat showered praise on the organisers of the seminar and workshops, stating that these would provide a platform to artisans to promote and market their products more effectively.
