Haryana: ASI held for sexually abusing woman

An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Naresh Kumar was arrested by the police on Monday evening for allegedly sexually abusing a married woman.

Superintendent of police Abhishek Garg said that the accused was posted on escort guard team in the district.

"Victim who is in her late 30's alleged that she was abused sexually by ASI Naresh Kumar for the past almost one year. She alleged that Kumar had promised to marry her, but din't keep his promise," said Garg.

He said that the matter was being probed and the accused would be presented in the court on Tuesday.

Station house officer (SHO) of Nissing, Jagdish Singh Mor, said that according to the complaint, Kumar was posted at Nisisng police station when he came into contact with the victim.

"Victim had some matrimonial dispute with her husband and it is alleged that ASI had lured the woman and promised to help her in getting a divorce. ASI had also allegedly threatened to intimidate her if the matter was reported to anyone," said the SHO.
