Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader and Hisar parliamentarian Dushyant Chautala has said that by passing a special ordinance on land acquisition, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre has again proved that its policies are anti-farmer and pro-rich.

On Wednesday, Dushyant issued a statement here that the government should either withdraw this ordinance or be ready to face an agitation. “The INLD and like-minded parties would oppose this ordinance in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. We’ll go to the President to stall this ordinance in the interest of agriculture and agriculturists,” he said.

“Earlier, the Congress looted farmers in the name of SEZs (special economic zones) and now the BJP is treading the same path to ruin farmers,” he said, claiming that the ordinance would hit small farmers who face huge losses already because of the low prices of cotton and rice. “What to talk of coming to their rescue, the government has failed even to supply them with adequate urea,” said Dushyant.
