The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notices to the Union government and insurance companies operating in Haryana over a petition seeking to streamline payment of damages to victims of the Jat quota agitation.

A public interest litigation had asked the court to direct insurance companies to appoint special nodal officers to deal specially with claims relating to damages.

The petition had also urged the court to direct insurance companies to clear the claims in a time-bound manner.
