The preparations for the second phase of panchayat elections, voting for which will start at 7:30am on Sunday, are completed.
Following the incidents of scuffle and violence in the first phase, elaborate security arrangements have been made to conduct the smooth polls and proper arrangements are made to avoid any untoward incident.
The officials of the district administration said electronic voting machines would be used for the voting to the posts of sarpanches and zila parishad, whereas ballot papers would be used for the election to panches and block samitis.
Control rooms have also been set up at the district headquarters and helpline numbers have been made available by the election commission so that people could file their complaints related to the election and voting on the polling day. Besides, the duty magistrates nodal officers have also been appointed to monitor the voting.
