Already facing an agitation by the guest teachers, the Haryana state education department may now face a stir by government teachers who have warned it to withdraw the order cancelling the summer vacation of the teachers posted in the government schools, where the pass percentage in Class 10 and 12 is below 50%.

The Haryana State Adhyapak Sangh has decided to oppose the decision of the government terming it a 'diktat' to defame the teachers. Also, the teachers are saying that directions were issued on the last working day before the vacation, when most of the students and teachers had already made their plans to spend the summer vacations along with their family members.

As per the directions, the district education officers (DEOs) have been told to ensure the presence of teachers and students in schools from June 1 to June 30 (the period of summer vacation), and the school principals have been told to monitor the additional coaching to the weak students, who will reappear in the examination.

Haryana Adhyapak Sangh president Pardeep Sareen said, "It's a diktat to defame the teachers. The Adhyapak Sangh will oppose the directions issued by the government, blaming the teachers for the poor results".

Adhyapak Sangh senior vice-president Dilbag Ahlawat said, "The word like 'punishment' is harming the image of the teachers in the society. The decision has disturbed the teachers, who had made planning to spend their summer vacations with their family members".

"It is condemnable that the government is using its baton to scare the teachers", he said while adding that holding teachers responsible for the results was wrong.

The Sangh has threatened that the teachers will have to come on the roads if the government does not revoke the decision in the next few days.

However, nobody from the Board of School Education in Haryana (BSEH) was ready to speak over this issue. BSEH secretary Pankaj could not be contacted after repeated attempts.

When asked about the implementation of the directions about the cancellation of summer vacation, Rohtak DEO Satyawati Nandal said, "Didn't you read the newspapers about the implementation of the direction?"

About the agitation threat by the teachers, she said, while speaking over phone, "I am not aware about the agitation by teachers. I am in Panchkula for a meeting".
