In a significant relief to Haryana residents, Community Service Centres (CSCs) across the state will offer 105 services to residents — a significant jump from the only 31 on offer now — from February 27 with union minister for communications and information technology Ravi Shankar Prasad launching the upgrade in Panchkula that day.

Services offered by the police, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), education, social justice and empowerment, food and supply, public health and engineering departments will move on to the electronic platform

“The union minister would launch these services at a state-level function at Panchkula on February 27. We will also launch three new portals,” said Keshni Anand Arora, additional chief secretary, electronics and IT department.

At present, the Centres provide facilities like birth and death certificates, caste certificates, addition in name of voters’ list, income certificate, residence and rural area certificates.

The Centres serve as public interface points for delivery of electronic services from government departments and agencies, private sector services and others. The centres are part of ‘Haryana e-Seva scheme’ of the state government and such centres are being opened under a private entrepreneurship business model. In Panchkula, there are 37 CSCs and the district plans to add more.

“We have conducted the interviews and soon we will sign agreements. There will be at least one CSC in every ward in Panchkula city. We will advertise through newspapers. We will continue to add services. The idea is to provide services to people at their doorstep, so that they do not have to go to government departments,” said Panchkula deputy commissioner Mandeep Singh Brar.
